WHAT is Expedition 237

Every Expedition is as unique as we are but there are five things we hold in common:

  1. Pre-field Training Tool Box: We knew we would not be able to get all the answers ahead of time for every issue and challenge we would face but we were able to get a "tool box" from which we could draw to be resourceful and successful. We took part in an eight-week cultural intensive which was designed to help us understand and research a culture, learn to work together in community, discover and sharpen our passions and skills which God wired into us, and find out how God can use us to start spiritually focused groups and churches.

  2. Experiential Ministry: We need to have hands-on experiences. Our desire was to put into practice what we knew and what we had learned. We needed to express our passions, learn some language, and have the opportunity to work side-by-side with others of faith. By doing this we gained a vision to see groups of God seekers among every tongue, tribe, and nation. Just like the Bible says. We found ourselves right in the thick of it, working and developing a long-term impact.

  3. Field Driven Budget: Our budget isn't making us rich but we are able to do what we came to do. It gives us enough to live, play, and give. We also have enough to pool together so that we can take trips and even attend retreats in some fun places.

  4. Mentoring: We live in community and get to unpack what God is talking to us about on a regular basis. Our team leader helps us by bringing insight, accountability, and guidance as we evaluate what we are learning, feeling, and still dreaming about in light of potential future desires and steps.

  5. Debriefing: As we round the last turn of our expedition, our team leader along with Expedition237 leadership help unravel what God is saying to each of us. A time of sharing and assessment have helped us figure out our next steps. If you see God leading toward a longer commitment, you'll get help as you think through how and where that may be.
